Fresh, yes, that sounds good to me. Title: I would say »The dematerialization of design« or »The softening of design« whichever tickles more the German imagination. I would say one hour. I am not very good shorter than that. I will explore a few concepts that define in my view essential aspects of what design is for me today .
Design is not concerned with objects, but with the impact that those objects have on people—Operational impact and cultural impact —Patnership—Negotiation—We can only understand things that relate to things that we already understand (Richard Saul Wurman) — Whatever we already understand, is insufficient to understand what we confront—Not transmitter - receiver but producer - interpreter — Accountability — Relevance — Sustainability — Efficiency and democracy—Planning and self organization—The complex and the complicated — Form, materials and self expression vs. content and context —Linear research vs. ecologies of information (The arborescent and the rhizomtic) — Debate vs. conversation — The »softening of design« — Making life possible — Making life easier — Making life better — Facilitating tesks vs. promoting values — Consumer economy vs. the welfare of people
